A Breathtaking Backyard Wedding in Bedford, NY

Bride Alexandria had always envisioned a backyard-style wedding. With just eight months to plan and her fiancé’s family based in Greenwich, Connecticut, her childhood home on her father’s property in Bedford was the perfect place to say “I do.”

Once the couple connected with their planner Chris Hessney from Hessney & Co the planning process was well on its way.

The design journey for this extraordinary wedding blossomed into a deeply personal family collaboration. The bride’s father, an arborist and executive chairman of SavATree, transformed the backyard into a lush, meticulously manicured sanctuary, enriching it with hand-selected plantings and trees brought in especially for the celebration. The bride’s mother, celebrated owner of Banchet Floral. curated and crafted every floral detail—a breathtaking display of beauty and love that framed the day with timeless elegance.

The brides vision was simple, elegant, whimsical and purple! The ceremony, set in a lovely sunken garden on the property, was lined with waist-high purple delphiniums framing the two English oak trees added to the location.

After cocktail hour, guests made their way to the reception space under our 66’x86′ Sperry Sailcloth Tent. With her mother at the helm of the floral design, the climbing vanda orchid tablescape and potted lady slipper orchids paired beautifully with the special touches of the fisherman table numbers, a special nod to the groom’s love for fly fishing.

The couple’s first dance was to “Caravan” by Van Morrison. The bride described the reception tent as a greenhouse, with trees connecting to the tent poles and those stunning vanda orchids creating a stunning focal point, drawing guests’ eyes to the entire reception atmosphere. It looked truly spectacular.

As the sun set and dinner plates were cleared, guests immediately hit the dance floor late into the night thanks to a supply of McDonalds and espresso martinis to keep the energy and vibes high.
